ALFORD. My Grandandmother was Mammie ALFORD b. 1886 in Washington Co., GA. Moved to Baldwin Co. after 1900. She married George Washington LINDSEY in 1912 in Dooly Co. She died in 1914. She had two children Louise b. 1906 d. 1990 in Dooly Co. and Bonnonie Jefferson b.10 Aug. 1909 d. 4 Nov. 1982. (my grandfather) from a previous marriage I think took place in Sandersville. After Mammie's death George adopted the children giving them the Lindsey name. No one knows anything about the REAL father. I'm looking for any info on this family (marriages, death, census, etc.) Thank You.

BAKER. I am looking for tax records for Baldwin Co, GA. I have a Peggy BAKER listed as marrying a James LEDBETTER in 1807 in the county. I also have a Joseph Baker will listing the same Peggy Baker LEDBETTER as a daughter. I would like to check tax records for these people as to when they were in the county or surrounding counties.

BARNES, LEWIS, MOORE, HAWKINS, OVERMAN, STEMBRIDGE, BUTTS, DENHAM, ENNIS, DRISKILL. George BARNES arrived in Hancock GA. in the early 1800's. He married Lewis sisters - Elizabeth LEWIS in 1816 and Abigail LEWIS in 1828. He lived in Hancock County GA, and then in Baldwin County, GA. where he died in 1871 age 71 years. Anyone connected?
Ester Barnes Mulling (Apr. 99)

BRANNEN. I am searching for any biographical information on Mary Read Brannen (1904-1972) and Hugh P. Brannen (1900-1956). Hugh was a native of Milledgeville and was owner/editor of a newspaper there around 1936. During his career he worked for newspapers in Tampa, Macon, and Washington, D.C. His father was a Presbyterian minister in Milledgeville around 1900-1910. Mary was originally from the Midwest and later Savannah, GA, and was trained as a journalist. They spent most of their married life (1931-1956) in the Washington, D.C. area. They are buried in Memory Hill Cemetery. Any leads on additional information regarding these two individuals would be most appreciated.

BROWN/TALIAFERRO. Am interested in any information on both these families who lived in Baldwin County. John BROWN married Sally TALIAFERRO there in 1810. Believe John's father also named John lived there until his death. Have been told that John and Sally's daughter was married to Governor James SMITH of Georgia. Would like to know if this is true. BURKS. I am researching James Lyon Burks, who served in the Senate in Milledgeville sometime around 1812. His wife's parents, John and Lydia BRINN ROBINSON, lived in Baldwin Co. sometime in the early 1800s and then got land in Jasper Co. If you have any records of the state legislature during that period of time, I would appreciate anything you could find on James or the Robinson family. Thank you for your time and help

BUTTS. Millard F. Butts and his wife Callie HOLMAN moved to Baldwin County from Morgan County. Millard was the overseer for the McMillan Brickworks. Millard, his wife, and young son Oscar are buried in the McMillan plot in Memory Hill Cemetery.

CAMP. Am looking for information on my Great Gandfather Fred Garrison Camp. He was born in Millegville, GA on 23 Dec 1875. The son of David Cicero Camp and Drucilla GARRISON. However, I can find no actual records of him. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, but I can find no records of his service.

CLAY. My Great-great-grandfather was William Thomas Clay. He was born 6 May 1848 in Macon GA. He married Mattie Elizabeth DAVIS in Miledgeville, GA on 14 Sept. 1871. He joined the Confederate GA Inf. at age 16. He and Mattie moved to Stampa AR in 1880. I have no idea who his parents were. Does anyone have any info on him? Thanks

COOPER. I am looking for information on a MILDRED COOPER, born 8 April 1793 in Milledgeville, Baldwin Co, GA. She married Jacob ELROD on l July 1811 in Orleans, Orange Co, Indiana. She died on 29 April 1852 and is buried in Orleans, Indiana. She was orphaned and inherited some land from the land lottery. Her parents are not known. Can you help?

COOPER. I am looking for information regarding Nancy "Mildred" COOPER b. 8 Apr. 1793 in Milledgeville, Baldwin Co, GA. She married Jacob ELROD and lived her life in Orange Co., IN. She went by Mildred but Jacob's will states her name is NANCY ...and I am assuming she is Nancy Mildred because of the time frame of her death and his. DUPREE. Baldwin Co, GA early marriages indicate that Jesse DuPree married Polly MOORE 17 Sept. 1813. First wife was Boyce GEE, at one time they were in Houston County, Ga. I am trying to determine if Jesse DuPree and Boyce Gee may have been the parents of a Dr. Gee DuPree who was in Glynn Co, Ga in 1810, who's family line I have been tracing. EDWARDS. Researching Harriett (Bruce) EDWARDS, a deaf mute. She married Josephus Berry EDWARDS (s/o William EDWARDS, Jr. and Narcissa Weston JOHNSON), 22 Dec. 1850, in Anderson Dist., SC. Although they spent most of their married life in Oglethorpe Co., GA, Harriett died, Dec. 1887 (eight years following Josephus' death), in Milledgeville.
