KILGORE. Around 1820 Charles (Charley) KILGORE
moved to Baldwin Co., before this time I believe he lived in Hancock Co.
(I'm not sure) Charles was still in Baldwin Co. in 1830, but after this
time I am unable to located him. I am looking for info on his family.
In 1840 living in the same neighbor hood (and I believe the same house)
was Hannah KILGORE. I don't know if this was his wife or daughter.
Hannah was not in the 1850 Baldwin co. census but a John KILGORE was on
the census and when I looked up his marriage certificate he was from Baldwin
Co. Any information concerning this Charles, Hannah and John will be greatly
appreciated. Thank You

LANGFORD/LANKFORD. My 3x great grandfather Edmond
(Edward) Langford won a prize on the 1805 Lottery for land in Baldwin Co.
He was on the 1820 census with his family. He migrated to Miss. Terr. and
was on the 1830 census. I am looking for his tax records, land records
and any others pertaining to him. Prior to the move to Baldwin he lived
in Liberty Co. The family name was also spelled Lankford even on the same
documents as was Edmonds name spelled with a "u" or as Edward. Very confusing
when looking for him. Thank you.

LEWIS. I am looking for information regarding
the history of Dr. John Edward Lewis of Baldwin Co. John E. Lewis
graduated from the University of Pensysvania in 1840 with an M.D. and listed
his home as Baldwin, Georgia. He had a brother, Robert, who was deaf.
They both left Georgia between 1840-1843 and moved to Sabine, Alabama then
moved again to Louisiana around 1850. Both Dr. John Edward Lewis
and Robert Lewis died in Louisiana.
It is very likely that the family of these men had been in the Baldwin
Co. area for several decades and relatives could still be living there.
John E. Lewis was born in 1814 and in the 1850 census listed his birthplace
as Georgia. On 26 March 1821 Fanny Lewis applied for
the administration of her deceased husband, John Lewis. In
Sept 1827 she sold 2 slaves "for the benefit of Robert Lewis and John Edward
Lewis, minor children of John Lewis, deceased--Fanny Lewis, guardian."
I am quite sure that this John Lewis and Fanny Lewis are the parents of
our Dr. Lewis. There is also a Dr. Richard Lewis of Hancock County who
started his practice in Powelton in 1819. It looks as if he may be
related to John and Fanny Lewis since she sold a negro and carriage to
pay a debt to him. He married Mary Womack on June 7, 1821 in Hancock
Co. and she died one year later on 20 July 1822 with and infant child
at the age of 20. He could easily be an uncle to our Dr. John E. Lewis.
I would appreciate any information regarding anyone in this Lewis line.
Thank you.

MCCOY/MEEKS. I am searching for a Baldwin County
family connection to my grandmother, Georgia Alice McCoy, b: 18 March 1891
in or near Milledgeville. She may be related in some way to Levi
William McCoy born in 1855. He had 5 brothers. There
may also be a connection to James B. McCoy who m: Dosia BROWN 17 Feb 1880
or Robert JASPER who m: Fannie Brown 5 Jan 1880. Georgia
had a sister Mary and a brother Samuel. She married Clayton E. MEEKS,
date unknown. She left GA with Clayton and had a child Willie Pearl on
6 Sept. 1914 in Tusculoosa. AL. Once the two left GA there was
no contact with family. My mother died longing to have some
knowledge of her family as she was an only child. I hope that I can
piece some of the puzzle together. Both Georgia and Clayton
worked in the Cotton Mills and Clayton was also a carpenter. Any
help would be appreciated.

McMILLIAN. I'm searching for information on
James Hatton McMILLAN and ancestors. The information I have is all
pieced together from family stories. Can anyone
help verify or disclaim any of it?
Family stories tell that James' father, James
Wilson McMillan, came from Scotland, settled in Baldwin County and built
The McMillan Brick Company. James W. McMillan supposedly won the bid to
provide the bricks in the construction of the insane asylum. The
Milledgeville Chronology from the Mary Vinson Memorial Library lists a
J.W. McMillan house being constructed in 1840, and that the asylum received
government funding in 1841. However, a volunteer lookup of the 1850 Baldwin
County Census failed to find any McMillan's.
James Wilson McMillan, married _?_ (three separate sources produce three different
names for James' wife; Harriet,
Hattie, and Geneva Adalgo). They had many children, one of them being
James Hatton McMillan.
James Hatton McMillan, b. ?, d. circa 1945, married Eliza "Lidie" Pricilla
Jordan, b. circa 1876, d.?, had 4 children; James Jordan McMillan, Marion
Wilson McMillan (1914-1998), Ruby McMillan and Geneva McMillan.
Any help would be appreciated.

MILLER. Susan Miller was born in 1826, in Milledgeville, according to family papers,
but no documentation.
Her parents were Elizabeth and Martin Miller, and they supposedly had a
large plantation outside Milledgeville. I have been unable, long
distance, to check for any tax records, so can't prove that this was true.
Susan Ann married Reuben Bullard in 1841, in Helena, Ark (why Arkansas?)
and they settled finally before the 1850 census in Wheeling (W)Va.
Family lore says that Martin sold his property before the onset of the
War Between the States , and was traveling up river, in KY, when he was
robbed and murdered by his secretary. It's possible that he was traveling
to Wheeling, and his daughter, Susan. Any help anyone can give me
concerning Martin, Susan Ann and Elizabeth would sure be appreciated!

ODEM. I am seeking information on a orphanage
located in Milledgeville around 1895. Looking for information on a person
that went there that year. Her name FANNIE MAE ODEM b 1885. (Fannie might
have been short for Frances, or maybe a nick name ) She was born 10 May 1885
She thought she had 2 bro. 1 sister, she thought their names were John, Solmon,
either Martha or Myrtle. If anyone has any information on the

on the Mumford Home for Children, that used to be in Milledgeville, GA. It burned
down sometime after 1895 . My Grandmother was put in the home when she was

grandmothers family, or who her mother or father was. can you give me any
information on this home or how I can find out anything about it where I can
