World War 1 Casualties Search

From 1917 to 1921 the General Headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces, recorded casualties on index cards. Most but not all of these records were included in a massive undertaking, the compilation of the three volume set "Soldiers of the Great War."

Information in this publication includes: name, grade (rank), cause of death, and the location where the soldier (or nurse) enlisted. In some cases, a small photograph is included (*).

* If a photograph of your soldier is available, it will be sent via email. Other arrangements may be made for better quality reproductions.

These are valuable records as many of the World War 1 era military service records were lost in the 1973 fire at The National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis.
