Bankruptcy Records of the U.S. District Courts, 1800-1809

In 1800 the federal Bankruptcy Act allowed creditors to petition for bankruptcy proceedings against traders, merchants and brokers. This unpopular act was repealed in 1803, but documents in a case may date as late as 1908.

These record searches are charged at a rate of $50.00 which includes photocopying the first 30 pages of each file found. Additional pages will be invoiced at $0.50 each.

Postage is included for files weighing up to 1 lb. Additional postage will be invoiced at cost.
