Ancestors can be found in all sorts of places. Some of the better known sources for adding to your family tree are census records, birth, death and marriage records (often referred to collectively as Vital Records), immigration records, military records and military pension records. You will find all of these among our genealogy collections, plus more. We also include records that add detail to the lives of the people in your family tree. Some records have hundreds of names, others have only a few. Our position is that each of the people are an important piece of a family tree somewhere and being one of, say, five people who were part of a particular event, does not make that event or that person any less important to their descendants or to history. With that in mind, please use these records to search for your ancestors and see if you can add any names or details to your family trees.

These records, like your ancestors, do not fit neatly into any predetermined boxes. All of the people on our family trees were born and later died. Most were likely married and of the direct ancestors we know they had children. But what else did they do? How did they live their lives? Were they the same as their neighbors, or did they distinguish themselves in some way? These are the details that flesh out a family tree and bring our ancestors to life. If you are lucky enough to find an ancestor among these files you can be sure your are gaining a little more insight into their very diverse lives.
